Young Adult Program
Our immersive transition program is a catalyst for young adults (18-26 years old) with learning and social differences as they transition from adolescence to lives of significance. Our program includes training and oversight in the key areas of independent living skills, career training, lifestyle fitness, as well as secondary education and support. Our program offers mental health support, social awareness training, employment coaching, and weekly goal-oriented advising, each led by passionate, experienced professionals.
We are committed to empowering young adults to practice self-advocacy and strengthen personal and professional relationships in ways that will be beneficial to themselves and the community.
How do we make a difference?
We have developed a curriculum that provides our learners with practical applications of key skills with support from staff, ensuring a focus on consistent incremental growth. Our program focuses on measurable outcomes in building a toolbox of transferable skills, self-advocacy, and independent living. Here’s how:
Independent Living
Our team guides students to be responsible tenants. Staff visit students in their living environment to provide valuable feedback, assist with organization and home hygiene, and give guidance on how to be a mindful neighbor and community member
Employment
Anyone can get a job, but obtaining enjoyable, gainful employment allows our young adults to lead fulfilling lives. Our volunteer and internship experiences allow students to explore personal interests and talents that lead to a career path. Our expectation for graduates is that they are able to employ the skills, knowledge, and interests necessary to thrive in a workplace environment.
Flexible and Personalized Learning
All students start at the same point, but progression is individualized based on growing confidence and competence. We avoid rigid modules or classes and adapt curriculum to the needs of the cohort; students advance at their own pace while learning from and acting as a peer leader in our groups. Cooperation and growth are the threads that run through all learning experiences.
